The Invisible Load of Parenting & Entrepreneurship. How a Virtual Assistant Can Help

In today’s fast-paced world, many women find themselves juggling multiple roles: business owner/employee, mom, and wife. (to name a few) Each of these roles comes with their own set of responsibilities and challenges, and managing them all can often feel overwhelming.

The mental load—the invisible, cognitive labor involved in managing a household and a career—can be immense. It refers to the ongoing, often invisible, effort required to manage a household, children and the demands of a career. It includes everything from remembering to schedule doctor’s appointments and planning meals to managing client meetings and business strategies. For many women this mental load is compounded by societal expectations, over scheduled life styles and lack of support or ways to manage stress.

The invisible load can be substantial.

Often too difficult to do alone, but as a type A personality, a do-er, high achiever….alone is often how we prefer it. Not because we like to do things in isolation but because we have learned to thrive on feeling “in control” or simply thrive on chasing a sense of accomplishment.

So how’s that working for you? I would argue that when you choose to muscle through it and do it alone there is a cost. It costs your peace, your time and ultimately your productivity and potentially your bottom line.

So the question is, is that cost worth it?

I would argue it’s not.

I can speak first hand to the chaos it creates and burnout that follows with this “go it alone” mindset. Hiring help and adding virtual support from a virtual assistant has not only transformed our business at VYA but also my family life and my overall sense of peace.

1. Increased Productivity: By outsourcing routine tasks, I can focus on high-priority projects that require their unique expertise and attention.

2. More Time: With business tasks delegated, there is more time to spend with family or doing things you’re passionate about.

3. Reduced Stress: Knowing that business operations are in capable hands can significantly reduce stress and anxiety, leading to better mental health and well-being.

4. Flexibility: Virtual assistants offer flexibility in terms of hours and tasks, allowing business owners to scale their support as needed.

Admittedly I didn’t believe I could delegate tasks to others for fear they wouldn’t do it right. I also worried about the cost and the pain of finding and hiring “the right hire” which ultimately made me pause and then give up and simply rely on myself.

Looking back I see I was scared, naive and slightly over confident in my ability and the amount of time I could give. So who suffered when I was stuck in that mindset? Yep, me, my family and my bank account. I missed opportunities, missed times to make memories with my kids and I definitely missed a few workouts and hours of sleep.

Never again!

So this is your sign!

Stop believing the lie that YOU can do it all. Your ego is lying to you! GO to a place (preferable Virtually Yours Agency) that has a history of connecting 100s of virtual assistants who’ve provided 1000s of hours to numerous successful businesses across the country and a few around the world.

Take it from 2 business owners who own a successful agency that has grown year after year. We not only talk the talk but we walk the walk. We grew when we started outsourcing to others. Hiring a virtual assistant or virtual team member can improve your life by decreasing your mental and physical load and increasing your productivity and time with loved ones.

From managing emails and scheduling appointments to handling social media, blogs and customer service, a virtual assistant can efficiently manage many of the day-to-day operations of a business or busy household. So the key is delegation so the invisible load isn’t carried alone and you can be your best self in all the roles you play, especially for the most important roles. For me that’s mom.

Time is our most precious commodity, so why not treat it as such? How many times a day, a week a year do we say “there isn’t enough time!” or “I don’t have the time.”  We find ourselves victim to the relentless, inevitable fact that time is limited.  So why don’t we protect it?   1. […]
