Are You Protecting Your Time?

Time is our most precious commodity, so why not treat it as such?

How many times a day, a week a year do we say “there isn’t enough time!” or “I don’t have the time.”  We find ourselves victim to the relentless, inevitable fact that time is limited.

So why don’t we protect it?

1. We’re too busy to reflect.

Guess what! It takes time to pause, reflect on what’s going on, and identify the pattern or the fact that you’re running on a hamster wheel.

It also takes self-awareness.  Rarely do people pause long enough to identify the systems and processes that aren’t working for them, much less take the time to make a change! But if you do… it’s well worth it because it doesn’t have to be this way!

2. We aren’t sure how to protect it.

Once we identify the fact that we don’t have enough time, we can then evaluate what we can do to protect it.

Does that mean…

  • Hiring more people?
  • Delegating tasks to others?
  • Time blocking?
  • Enhanced time management systems?
  • Perhaps even someone to help hold you accountable to the boundaries you’re setting.

All are great ways to give yourself more time but YOU have to make it a priority and put things in place to protect it.

3. We’re control freaks!

Yes, I said it.  And I am too!

Oftentimes, type A personalities are reliant on being “in control”, which means they don’t want to delegate or offload something.

But here’s the reality folks, YOU CAN’T DO IT ALL and if you’re trying to then you must ask yourself at what cost? If you’re trying to do it all, are you losing productivity? Impact? Revenue? Time with loved ones?  Maybe all of these are true.

It’s time to find ways to get back your time through delegation and with someone you trust….like a VA from Virtually Yours.

A great example of this is social media, many try to do it themselves but often spend hours trying to create that perfect reel or post, only for it to fall short of their expectations, and guess what—they missed dinner with the fam and client emails and no one wins….

I have to say hiring a VA to manage our social has been a game-changer! It’s bringing in more clients and looks amazing! (Check it out here!)

4. We make excuses (change is hard)

Whether you want to admit it or not, when we know there’s a problem we make excuses as to why we can’t “fix” it.

Maybe it’s because of #3 (see above, you control freaks) or maybe we are just too timid to pull the trigger and hire someone. Obviously, there’s some inherent risk when we make a change because it might not always work, but what if it does?!

And once again, your inability to try or take that risk continues to waste more of that precious commodity—time

We know time is valuable and irreplaceable…so let us do the heavy lifting for you!  Let us at VYA help you bring the right person onto your team. We can match you with a social media manager, personal assistant, or someone to help follow up with clients and enhance your customer relationships. We are here to serve and help you protect your time.

Now I know my tone has been sarcastic, but ultimately it’s because I’ve done ALL THESE THINGS!

I’ve battled myself because I’m frustrated I don’t have time and it wasn’t until I sat down and evaluated what I was doing and all the things I still wanted/needed to do but couldn’t.  So learn from me, especially now during the busy holiday season and the start of a new year.

Don’t waste the currency of time.

Use it wisely.

If we at VYA can help you do so, then please reach out to us. We are here to help because we honestly care and wish to prevent the pain of regret.

Whether you’re just now starting with your VA or you’ve been together for a while, have you ever wondered, “how well does my VA know me?” or vice versa? “How well do you know your VA?” Though there are boundaries we encourage you to set in order to create healthy working relationships, we also believe […]
