Juggling Motherhood and Clients: Finding Grace in the Chaos

Becoming a new mom has been one of the most beautiful and challenging transitions I’ve ever walked through. When my daughter decided to surprise me by coming a month early. My whole world shifted in an instant. Nothing about her arrival went according to “plan”. From an unexpected c-section to migraines after labor. Suddenly I was thrown into a postpartum journey that looked completely different than what I had envisioned.

In the middle of all of that, one of the biggest blessings has been the relationship I’ve had with Vantage Point Financial as their VA. Before my daughter was born, we worked hard together to get six months of social media content planned out. Scheduled and create an Operating Manual to make sure everyone was on the same page of content creation and social media. Looking back I am so grateful we did that. Because it meant that even when I was in the hospital or in those early foggy weeks postpartum. The work was still running smoothly. And when she arrived early, my client showed me so much grace and understanding. Which made such a difference in how I was able to adjust to this new season.

That doesn’t mean it’s always easy. There are plenty of days I tell myself, “I’ll get this done during nap time”. Only to have my baby decide otherwise (motherhood at its finest). I’ve had to learn to let go of rigid expectations, embrace flexibility, and ride the ups and downs of life with a newborn. But now that she’s getting a little older, we’re finding more of a rhythm. I’ve been able to really enjoy both parts of my life: being her mom and doing work that I love.

Staying connected

Staying connected to my client work has been such a gift. It keeps my skills sharp, gives me a creative outlet, and allows me to hold onto a sense of identity outside of motherhood. At the same time, I get to be present with my daughter during these sweet early days. In many ways, it truly feels like the best of both worlds and I don’t take that for granted.

Motherhood has stretched me in ways I didn’t expect and taught me so much about patience, grace, and perseverance. Having a client who understands that life happens and values the human side of business has made the transition so much smoother.

Now that I’m a mom, I see so clearly how much hard work, love, and sacrifice it takes to balance both family and a career. Moms really are superheroes. I’m inspired daily by other working moms who are making it work, showing up for their clients, while also pouring into their families.

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to keep growing, both as a professional and as a mom. It’s not always perfect, but it’s a journey I feel blessed to be on. And I can’t wait to continue doing what I love in both roles.

Time is our most precious commodity, so why not treat it as such? How many times a day, a week a year do we say “there isn’t enough time!” or “I don’t have the time.”  We find ourselves victim to the relentless, inevitable fact that time is limited.  So why don’t we protect it?   1. […]

Whether you’re just now starting with your VA or you’ve been together for a while, have you ever wondered, “how well does my VA know me?” or vice versa? “How well do you know your VA?” Though there are boundaries we encourage you to set in order to create healthy working relationships, we also believe […]

Is It the Key to a Thriving Work Culture? Indulge me in a short story: Do you remember “trust falls” from when you went to summer camp that one year way back when? I do. Except it wasn’t summer camp, I was at a sleepover. I also vividly remember being dropped flat on my back. […]
